Sycamore

Sycamore Trail House is a proposal for a single family residence on a terraced hillside site in Los Angeles.  The residence developed following the client’s request to have two distinctly different types of spaces; A predominantly open area that that should be unobstructed and open up the poolside, and a cloistered area where the intimacies of family life could occur.

The geometry of the house is a result of negotiating the desire to maximize floor area and open space while reducing shadow projections on a very tight sight. To accomplish this the residence is wedged into the North curved end of the site, the narrowest point of the site, allowing open spaces to occupy the southern portion of the site.
